On Friday Jan 10/04 some of our Venturer Group went to Camp Carter to help with St Theresa's Winter Scout Camp. We arrived Friday night and stayed in the MacLean Building that night but slept outside overnight on Saturday night. We wanted to try out our new backpacking tents that were donated by Nova Scotia Power.

We helped with the meals and the cleaning and Saturday Evening Chris, Jeff and Jay showed some Powerpoint Presentations on Air Pollution and the Atlantic Fishery Crisis.

We set up the tents on Saturday afternoon which was sunny but cold. In the late evening after playing some "Risk" we dressed for the cold night outside and proceeded to settle in for the night. It was very cold with the temperature being around -14 c with a brisk wind but no body had any problems with the cold since we all had dressed properly and were in cozy sleeping bags. It was a good experience for us and we did learn that you have to make sure that you don't drink too many fluids before sleeping out because you don't want to be getting up in the freezing cold if mother nature calls.
