On the weekend of April 23, we helped set up and participate in a Regional Venturerer Camp at Camp Carter. Our Company went up Thursday evening so we could spend Friday Cleaning the Meclean Building and cutting dead spruce for the pioneering activity on Saturday Morning.
After the groups from Glace Bay, Sydney River and 13th Sydney arrived on Friday night, Chris and Grant presented a Powerplant Presentation on Hypothermia and then we watched a movie.
On Saturday morning we started with flag break, proceeded by are opening horshoe, then we builded "A" frames of the wood logs we had cut and raced them in the big field.
After lunch Cape Breton Search and Rescue came in to do a session inside on Map and Compass, then we went outside where we had a session on Survivor and Outdoor Shelters. The last of the afternoon we had controlled target practice with paintball guns which was hosted by Sydney River.
St Joseph's had a ga-ga Ball Tournament shortly after supper, then we had campfire after and then just relaxed the rest of the evening.
On Sunday morning Grant, Graham, John and Chris worked with Scouter Fred White in hosting "Scouts Own". Around 10:00 we had a round table with all the groups and had a couple quick games of ga-ga ball before lunch.
After lunch we once again cleaned up and had closing horshoe at 1:00. It was a fun week-end with about 30 Venturers from our area participating.
