On the week-end of September 30 2005 some of our Venturer Company went out to Hidden Treasure Campground at Catalone to help with the annual canoe camp.
Chris, Robert, Grant, Andrew , John and Jay arrived Friday night and quickly set up are tents since it was getting dark quickly. Besides that it was a quiet evening with the venturers hanging around the mini-arcade with pool table most of the night.
When we woke up in the morning we had breakfast and had a quick horseshoe. Afterwards we helped take the canoes down to the water and helped the first batch of scouts getting started. We went back to camp and had lunch. We finished quickly and no one else was using the canoes so we went for a quick paddle. Our luck though, a canoe loaded with Grant, Chris, and Jolie tipped over and we had an interesting swim back to shore.
After getting dried off we set up a sling shot activity for the scouts where they shot at bowling pins to get the highest score and try to win a prize. Afterwards we had supper and then help set up the wood for the campfire. Grant was campfire chief and around 8:30 we proceeded to light the fire and it was quite a large fire but it was contain in a big metal tank . We sat around the fire after the campfire ceremony was over and we burnt the rest of the wood. We went to sleep around 11:00-12:00. On Sunday morning Robert led Scout's Own and after that we broke down camp and had closing at 1. The weather was excellent all week-end with both days being sunny and over 20 c.
