On the Oct 3,4,5 Week-End Cape Breton Region Held their first Fall Canoe Camp at Hidden Treasure Campground in Catalone.
We arrive Friday evening and set our tents up at the lower end of the campground where we found a nice spot on the bank for our campfire. On Saturday different Groups Leaders were hosting programs on Map and Compass, Trip Planning, Wilderness First Aid, Canoe Packing and Selection of camping equipment. In the afternoon the Canoe Instructor gave us lessons on safe handling of canoes and basic strokes and then we went out on the lake doing single and tandem canoeing. Later in the evening we took part in the campfire. On Sunday Morning we had Scouts Own and more canoeing and in the afternoon we headed back to Sydney just before the rain started.
